Job Summary

Lone Star Lodge Resort and Marina is seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair boats, engines, and marine equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and safety of our rental fleet, slip tenants' vessels, and other marina equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, attention to detail, and a passion for the boating industry.

Key Responsibilities

Boat & Engine Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance on inboard and outboard engines, electrical systems, steering, and propulsion systems.

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on rental boats and customer vessels.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues efficiently.

  • Perform oil changes, tune-ups, filter replacements, and other routine services.

  • Repair and maintain boat trailers, lifts, and other marina equipment as needed.

Customer Service & Boat Owner Support:

  • Communicate with boat owners about repairs, maintenance recommendations, and costs.

  • Provide guidance on proper boat care and maintenance practices.

  • Assist with winterization, de-winterization, and seasonal boat preparation.

  • Keep detailed records of work performed and parts used.

Shop & Inventory Management:

  • Maintain an organized and well-stocked workshop with necessary tools and parts.

  • Order and track parts, fluids, and supplies needed for repairs and services.

  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials such as oil, fuel, and batteries per environmental regulations.

General Marina Support:

  • Assist with launching, hauling, and docking boats as needed.

  • Support fuel dock operations when necessary.

  • Help maintain marina cleanliness and operational safety.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience as a marine mechanic or similar mechanical role required.

  • Strong knowledge of inboard and outboard engines, marine electrical systems, and boat maintenance.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair techniques.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an outdoor environment.

  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces.

  • Certification from marine engine manufacturers (Yamaha, Mercury, Volvo Penta, etc.) is a plus.

  • Valid driver’s license and boating knowledge preferred.
